Connection Method of SFP and BIDI SFP Optical Transceivers

A common SFP modules usually has two ports, one is TX port for transmitting signals, the other is RX port for receiving signals. Unlike the common SFP modules, BiDi SFP modules has only one port and uses the whole WDM coupler to transmit and receive signals on a single optical fiber.

SFP modules must be used in pairs. Common SFP optical transceivers, we should connect two SFP optical transceivers with the same wavelength. For example, if we use 850 nm SFP on one port.We need use 850 nm SFP on the other port.

For BiDi SFP optical module, because it transmits and receives signals at different wavelengths, we should connect two BiDi SFPs with opposite wavelengths. For example, if we use TX1310/RX1550nm BiDi SFP on one port.We should use TX1550/RX1310nm BiDi SFP on the other port.
