1. What is 40G QSFP + BiDi SR4?

40G QSFP+BiDi SR4 is different from other 40G QSFP+optical modules:

Additional 40G QSFP + optical modules (such as QSFP + SR4 Modules / LR4) use eight channels to accomplish 40G transmission, but 40G QSFP + BiDi SR4 only needs two 20G channels to achieve this function. Each channel can transmit and receive signals from a multi-mode cable, but it also needs to be noted that 40G QSFP + BiDi SR4 must be used in pairs.

2. How does it work?

To accomplish 40G QSFP + BiDi SR4 signal transmission, three guidelines are needed:

Step 1: Combine four electrical signals with two 20G electrical signals.

Step 2: Two 20G electrical signals are exchanged into two 20G optical signals with different wavelengths.

Step 3: The 20G optical signals of different wavelengths are transmitted to an optical cable, and then the 40G device receives the optical signals and works:

How does 3.40G QSFP + BiDi SR4 connect?
